Our Beliefs

The story of Jesus Christ is central to the Christian faith and is found in the New Testament of the Bible. Here is a brief overview of this universal story:

  • Birth of Jesus Christ: Jesus was born in Bethlehem to Mary and Joseph. He was born in a manger because there was no room at the inn. The birth of Jesus was announced by angels to shepherds in the fields nearby.
  • John the Baptist and Jesus' baptism: John the Baptist was a prophet who preached about the coming of the Messiah. He baptized Jesus in the Jordan River, and at that moment, the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus and a voice from heaven declared him to be the son of God.
  • Jesus' ministry: Jesus began his ministry and traveled throughout Galilee, preaching about the kingdom of God, performing miracles, and healing the sick. He attracted a large following and gained many disciples.
  • The Last Supper: Jesus gathered with his disciples for a final meal before his crucifixion. During this meal, he instituted the sacrament of Communion, telling his disciples to eat bread and drink wine in remembrance of him.
  • Crucifixion and Resurrection: Jesus was betrayed by one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, and was arrested, tried, and sentenced to death by crucifixion. He was crucified on a cross, and three days later, he rose from the dead, fulfilling prophecy.
  • Ascension: After his resurrection, Jesus spent 40 days with his disciples, teaching them and preparing them for their future ministry. He then ascended into heaven and returned to the Father, but promised to send the Holy Spirit to be with them always.

This is a brief summary of the story of Jesus Christ. It is a story of love, sacrifice, redemption, and hope, and is at the heart of the Christian faith.
